Omaha, NE – March 23, 2009 – With the number of Americans suffering from celiac disease exceeding three million, Godfather’s Pizza, Inc. recognized the need for a line of gluten-free pizzas and set out to create one. After several months in development, the pizza chain has announced its new line of gluten-free pizza is now available at the following locations:

“At this point, there is no cure for celiac disease,” said Victoria Orman, R&D field project manager. “A gluten-free lifestyle is the only treatment. And now, Godfather’s Pizza can be part of that treatment.”

 

Safety comes first

Celiac disease, an autoimmune digestive disease, is triggered by the consumption of gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley, and rye. To minimize the risk of any cross-contamination, Godfather’s Pizza has its gluten-free pizzas made off-site and individually packaged.

 

In order to understand how to properly prepare and handle this product, the management team and employees at the locations listed above underwent special training. Separate utensils and bakeware also are used to ensure customers suffering from celiac disease receive a safe and delicious product.

For nearly four decades, Godfather’s Pizza has prided itself on serving delicious, abundantly-topped pizzas. The chain’s gluten-free pizzas are no exception. Each gluten-free pizza is piled high with Godfather’s Pizza’s signature sauce, fresh toppings, and 100% real cheese. The only difference is these pizzas are made using a thin rice flour crust.

 

Currently, the line of gluten-free pizzas includes cheese, pepperoni, beef, sausage, Classic Combo and All-Meat Combo. The product is available for dine-in, carry-out, delivery, and take-and-bake. The gluten-free pizzas are only available in a 10-inch size and priced in line with the restaurant’s other pizzas.
